Alleppey Houseboat



Fondly known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Alleppey is a well-known tourist destination in Kerala. The Vembanad Lake stretches from Alleppey to Kochi, and is 84km long. Rivers that flow into the lake are Pamba, Achankovil, Manimala, Meenachil and Muvattupuzha. Houseboat trips – overnight, day and weekend – are best enjoyed in the Monsoon. There are several types of packages for lone and group travellers. The bpat crew also double up as chefs and cleaners. The food offered is authentic Kerala dishes and savouries.

Kayamkulam Lake covers just under 60 sq.km, and connects Ashtamudi lake by the Chavara Panmana canal. Alleppey is crisscrossed by hundreds of small and big canals. It is used for passenger navigation and commercial purposes.
